I’ve just got to hear about affiliate marketing and am really a newbie to this matter. The post above was so great and helpful for a person like me. I also took a look at locationrebel which seemed very exciting to me. I wonder if those courses and blueprints are still applicable because as far as I’ve seen, the reviews and testimonials all refer to the year 2013. It was the only reason that hold me back from joining the Locationrebel. I would be very thankful if you help me with this matter.
Hard work, dedication and starting off your business with a solid foundation really takes you a long ways within the affiliate/internet marketing world and you are a true testament of that (along with 1,000’s of others I have worked with over the years). It is not rocket science and absolutely anyone can establish a long term and very successful business within any niche, it comes down to treating it like a business…not a scheme.

The pending number, however, in reality is much bigger than the one you see in the screenshot. It’s just that some payments are recurring monthly payments, which means that I don’t get paid everything at once. Sometimes, one affiliate income is paid over the period of six months. At other times, it can even be a couple of years. This is actually how many affiliate programs work. They pay you monthly.

I am probably a bit different than most of the people reading this, I have never done an affiliate program or made money online..I have a great career but I realize to have true freedom I need to do something else for myself..I see all of these people on fb pimping out new programs every week and talking about their amazing lifestyle but it is so hard to know who or what to trust so I haven’t started anything.

The more advanced affiliate managers hand select a few coupon sites to work with, then decline the rest. They are also starting to value different types of affiliates more than others, giving higher commissions or more credit to affiliates who drive long term loyal customers versus the “whoever has the best deal today and I don’t care what brand it is nor am I going to buy from them again if it’s not 60% off” type of buyers. Because of this coupon sites do not generally fall into the “high value incremental sale” column.


I decided to apply simple commercial market fundamentals to the situation. Essentially an “affiliate” is a digital salesperson working for your company, driving sales and getting commission. If you offer a salesperson a 10 percent commission to sell your product, assume they will sell $200,000 of product a week for you. What if you raised their commission to 20 percent? You’d assume they would work harder because they get more reward wouldn’t you? And if you lowered their commission to just 5 percent, they wouldn’t work as hard as they did before.
You should also make sure you aren't competing with your own affiliates for eyeballs. Any marketing channels you're using, such as search engines, content sites or e-mail lists, should be off limits to your affiliates. Put marketing restrictions into your affiliate agreement and notify partners immediately. It's your program--you set the rules. Or, if you prefer, you can let your affiliates run the majority of your internet marketing.

Affiliate marketing has grown quickly since its inception. The e-commerce website, viewed as a marketing toy in the early days of the Internet, became an integrated part of the overall business plan and in some cases grew to a bigger business than the existing offline business. According to one report, the total sales amount generated through affiliate networks in 2006 was £2.16 billion in the United Kingdom alone. The estimates were £1.35 billion in sales in 2005.[19] MarketingSherpa's research team estimated that, in 2006, affiliates worldwide earned US$6.5 billion in bounty and commissions from a variety of sources in retail, personal finance, gaming and gambling, travel, telecom, education, publishing, and forms of lead generation other than contextual advertising programs.[20]

Many affiliate programs run with last-click attribution, where the affiliate receiving the last click before the sale gets 100% credit for the conversion. This is changing. With affiliate platforms providing new attribution models and reporting features, you are able to see a full-funnel, cross-channel view of how individual marketing tactics are working together. For example, you might see that a paid social campaign generated the first click, Affiliate X got click 2, and Affiliate Y got the last click. With this full picture, you can structure your affiliate commissions so that Affiliate X gets a percentage of the credit for the sale, even though they didn’t get the last click. 


Are you an expert in conversion optimisation, sales funnels, SEO, website building, copywriting and proofreading? If so, you have a better chance than most newcomers. Chances are, if you’ve only just heard about affiliate marketing, you don’t have all or even any of these skills just yet. In this case, settle down for the long haul. This is going to take some time, but you will get there – as long as you don’t give up along the way!

Also, it really depends on who you ask. In any business, you will see people that are doing really well and people that aren’t. Their results depend on so many variables, including the business that they are engaged in, the number of years they have been in it, the age when they started, how much their initial investment was, were they mentored, etc.


From the affiliate side, not only is the coupon market already saturated, it’s almost impossible to compete against super coupon affiliates such as retailmenot.com in organic search. If you don’t have paid placement budget, then how are you going to get found? Facebook? Maybe. But I doubt you’ll get the volume you need in order to drive enough sales through performance marketing to earn a living relying strictly on Facebook as a coupon affiliate.
If affiliate marketing were that easy, everyone would be doing it! While the basic concept of affiliate marketing is quite simple, there is a lot of behind-the-scenes work that takes place. Affiliate managers have to make sure their latest promotions are being properly represented on the various publisher sites, as well as coordinate with the site developers to ensure SEO compliance. Having outdated sale messaging is a huge sale killer, and with the internet as big as it is, keeping it all up to date is harder than it seems. We communicate with our affiliates regularly via phone, email, and weekly email newsletters to keep them updated on the latest offers.

In the past, large affiliates were the mainstay, as catch-all coupon and media sites gave traffic to hundreds or thousands of advertisers. This is not so much the case anymore. With consumers using long-tail keywords and searching for very specific products and services, influencers can leverage their hyper-focused niche for affiliate marketing success. Influencers may not send advertisers huge amounts of traffic, but the audience they do send is credible, targeted, and has higher conversion rates. 


It changed. Its not dead, it is just different. It evolved. That is why any entrepreneur, especially internet entrepreneur, has to be constantly learning and constantly trying to improve themselves and their skills. 2004? You have to see how much the internet has changed since 2004 and then ask yourself. Are you doing the same things now as you did in 2004? If yes, that is why it is not working

Personally, I feel that affiliate marketing will never die regardless of what Google does – Because Google is not the only traffic source in the world. I work directly with the vendors as their main affiliate because I push around 1,000 – 1,500 leads per day – vast majority of the leads being on advertising platforms other than Adwords. The only way I see affiliate marketing coming to an end is if there is some sort of Governance of the Internet by the United Nations – or something freaky like that. As long as there is advertising platforms with great inventory, the right affiliates will never let the industry fade away. My primary point being – that SEO or Paid Placement (PPC / PPA / Media Buys) will never “die”. It’s out of Google’s hands!
Without hesitation (after some research), I bought her course. As an aside, I’m not one of those people who buys any and every thing that comes down the pike. I’ve bought enough online products that DIDN’T work that it takes a lot for me to shell out money. I’m pretty good at figuring out stuff, but the more I researched Michelle, the more impressed I was by her and her course.

My business is all about creating content, content, and more content. Are there other ways of succeeding at affiliate marketing? Certainly, but I find that content marketing is by far the single most profitable method of affiliate marketing.


That means building a brand and a reputation that is on a completely different level to how the average affiliate runs their business, and I would encourage my Warrior friends to do the same. It takes time, it takes patience, it takes diligence and it takes investment. 99% of online marketers are not willing to make those sacrifices (as nicheblogger75 states in his post above), so the barrier to entry means if you do have the right fortitude and attitude, you have significantly higher chances of succeeding than slugging it out in the cesspit of low-grade grey-hat-style affiliate marketing.
