This is where bloggers have so much success in affiliate marketing. There are incredibly successful bloggers out there making an insane amount of money through performance marketing because they have found their voice, their niche and a loyal following of people who are learning and buying through their recommendations because they are considered experts on their topic. That, and they have earned the trust of their readers. You can blog about anything and everything under the sun and the cool thing is you can be as creative as you like.
Hi John, GREAT point and one worthy of a blog post of it’s own. It’s an extremely important topic and one that not many merchants are even aware of. There is lack of knowledge about how toolbars work (both by users and by advertisers) so the challenge will be educating people on the pros and cons. Merchants tend to think SAH and Nectar add value in the sales process because they see sales, however they need to measure the COST of those sales and understand the profit margins and risk of them as well. I think I'm missing a lot of points. Maybe I'm a tough sell but how the heck do I create compelling content for these promotions when I would never buy one? There are definitely many low quality programs online in fact we reside in an industry where there are vultures everywhere you look. They are in the business of taking your money, nothing more. Do you have any tips to offer as far as where to spend the bulk of your time? I get overwhelmed and never know where to start. I started out learning from Pat Flynn and just googling from there, and you're right that once you learn the basics it's just a matter of creating compelling, high value content. I just struggle to figure out what direction to go in. Should I create an identity with lots of personality or just a generic tone on the website? How much do I need to connect with visitors, how important is a strong social media presence? How important is website speed as far as what I get from my host goes (outside of website performance on my end)?

But remember you can always change your way of thinking. It’s just a choice. In order to succeed, you must have the mindset of an entrepreneur.

For instance, five years ago this forum was absolutely packed with super successful affiliate marketers and product creators and list builders and there was loads of amazing information available here for free (and it still is, if people would learn how to use the "search" function). Today, not so much. Just the same old people asking the same old questions OVER AND OVER AND OVER!
All CPA marketers put their eggs in one basket. I’ve seen plenty of the greats go from zero to hero and vice versa several time in their careers. The smart ones learn to build their own business in the process and pimp their products to CPA newbies (where the real money is). So if your only focus is to make the most money you can I would advise you not to spend it all because that business model won’t last.
